Diffuser Refill Hints & Tips

Reed Diffuser Refill Hints & Tips

The Importance of Diffuser Reeds

Believe it or not the reeds for your reed diffuser are one of the most important parts of the product. The reeds are the workhorse of the reed diffuser and as such like anything you need to maintain/replace them on a regular basis. The reeds absorb the scent which gives off the subtle scent and diffuses into your room. If you can no longer smell the scent in the bottle it will be because the reeds have started to fail and this can be for a number of reasons.

Reeds can get clogged up with scent, dust and other particles in the air and just like the filters in your hoover will not soak up any more scent. Unfortunately you can’t clean the reeds which means every few months you need to replace them.

Another reason why it is important to replace the reeds is you may want to change the scent and have a different one. We would recommend you replace your reeds. The reason for this is because your reeds are already soaked in the previous scent and because you can’t wash them you need to replace them. Imagine spraying a piece of material for months with the same perfume, now you want to change the scent but you don’t wash the material, it is very likely you will not smell your new scent as the piece of material has already been soaked for months with the old scent.

It is for these reasons why we recommend our customers buy a new set of reeds when it is time for a refill.

Where is the best place to put your Reed Diffuser

Placement is one of the most important factors in getting the best performance from your reed diffuser. For the best results, place your diffuser in an area with gentle natural airflow such as a hallway, living room or bathroom. Natural movement in the room helps carry the fragrance through the space.

Avoid placing your diffuser near strong draughts, air conditioning vents, ceiling fans or constantly opening doors and windows. Strong airflow causes the oil to evaporate too quickly, shortening the life of your diffuser and reducing scent performance.

Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators. Heat and light accelerate evaporation and will significantly shorten the life of your fragrance oil.

If your diffuser is placed on a windowsill it will use the oil more quickly due to temperature changes and airflow.

For larger rooms, one diffuser may not be enough. Consider placing two diffusers at different points in the space for even scent distribution.

If you find you can no longer smell the scent, it is common for customers to turn the reeds over which will give you another few weeks of scent.

We hope this helps explains how reed diffusers work and the importance of having good reeds.

We will not replace your product if you can’t smell the scent and you haven’t bought or used new reeds. We will also reject any bad or negative reviews if our customers have not followed our recommendations. If you have used our product and bought reeds then of course we would be happy to provide a refund and be happy to listen to any constructive feedback via our review system.
